ماه اول سال اسلامی، محور اصلی مراسم عزاداری سالانه است که به ویژه توسط مسلمانان شیعه به افتخار حسین بن علی ، نوه پیامبر اسلام ،که در سال 680 ق در جنگی در کربلا (عراق) درگذشت انجام می شود.

The first month of the Islamic year,Muharram,is the focus of annual lamentation rituals performed especially by Shi˓a Muslims in honor of Husayn b.˓Ali, the prophet Muhammad's grandson, who died in battle in 680 c.e. at Karbala (Iraq).

1- محرم اولين ماه تقويم اسلامي (ماه قمري)است.

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar.

2- مسلمانان شيعه ياد و خاطره نبرد کربلا را گرامي مي دارند و اين ماه را ماه عزا و سوگواري مي دانند.

The Shiite Muslims commemorate the Battle of Karbala and consider this a month of sadness and mourning.

3- مي توانيد کمي در مورد عاشورا برايم بگوييد؟

Can you tell me a little about Ashurah?

4- عاشورا روزي است که حسين بن علي نوه حضرت محمد(ص) به همراه اعضاي خانواده و يارانش در نبرد کربلا به شهادت رسيدند.

Ashurah is the day Husayn Ibn Ali, the grandson of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH & HP) , was martyred along with his family members and friends in the Battle of Karbala.

5- اين ماه زمان اندوه و سوگواري عميق است.

This month is period of intense grief and mourning.

6- روحانيون در مورد شخصيت امام حسين (ع) و جايگاه ايشان در اسلام و نيز تاريخچه قيام اشان به روضه خواني مي پردازند.

Clergymen give sermons with themes of Hussein’s personality and position in Islam, and the history of his uprising.

7- روحانيون حادثه کربلا را بازگو کرده و در مورد مصائبي که بر امام حسين و خانواده اش رفته است صحبت مي کنند.

The clergymen retell the Battle of Karbala and speak about the pain and sorrow endured by Hussein and his family.

8- بسياري از مردم جهت برگزاري مراسم سينه زني و عزاداري در مساجد جمع مي شوند .

Many people congregate together in mosques for chest beating and mourning.

9- آنها اخلاصشان به امام حسين (ع) را با سوگواري و عزاداري همراه با صداي طبل، شيپور و فرياد يا حسين نشان مي دهند .

They show their devotion to Imam Hussein by Lamenting and grieving to the tune of beating drums, sound of bugles and chants of “Ya Hussein”.

10- برخي مردم روز عاشورا گوسفند قرباني مي کنند .

Some people sacrifice a sheep in Ashura.
